At SkillRise 270, one of our greatest rewards is watching people from all walks of life come together to build, share, and connect. On August 26th, 2026, our partnership with the Mayfield-Graves County Senior Citizens Center proved just how powerful community collaboration can be when we mix fresh energy with seasoned wisdom.
Our collaborative efforts kicked off with a hands-on outdoor build project. Thanks to generous material donations from Mayfield Lowe's, Mayfield Hardware & Lumber, C&W Lumber, and Murphy & Sons, volunteers gathered at the Senior Center to construct two custom raised garden beds.
The build brought together 27 enthusiastic volunteers, including:
Working side-by-side, our youth learned practical techniques from community members with decades of hands-on experience, while senior participants enjoyed mentoring the next generation.
The finished garden beds provide functional, accessible gardening space for center participants for years to come. Beyond the physical structure, projects like this remind us that skill-building is about far more than just tools and materials. It’s about building relationships, learning across generations, and strengthening the fabric of our Mayfield and Graves County community.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Mayfield-Graves County Senior Citizens Center staff, local business donors, and every volunteer who dedicated their time to make this event a success!
